LUCKY ROLES?

A thought to ponder on this wet (at least on the East Coast), Monday morning: Are there certain daytime roles that are luckier than others when it comes to launching their portrayers on successful careers in other media?

I don't mean roles like GH's Lucky or AW's Vicky, which win Emmys for more than one actor. And I don't mean the showy, dual roles that attract Emmys and adulation within the daytime industry.

I mean roles that are played by more than one actor, many of whom then go on to successful primetime and film parts.

For instance, all of the young women who once played GL' Marah went on to make splashes elsewhere.

The same goes for some of GL's Michelles, including Rachel Miner, Rebecca Budig and Bethany Joy Lenz.

Both the actresses who played the adult Betsy on ATWT -- Meg Ryan and Lindsay Frost -- found success in other genres. (And, as a fun fact, Lisa Denton, who played Betsy just before Ryan, is mom to another ATWT alum, Dylan Denton as the first JJ).

Can you think of other such daytime lucky charm roles? Let us know in the Comments, below!

Both of the gals who played "Iris" on "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing" -- Leslie Charleson and Bibi Besch -- had subsequent successful careers in and out of daytime TV, as did the three actresses who played "Laura": Donna Mills, Veleka Gray and Barbara Stanger.
