ANOTHER CHANCE FOR ANOTHER WORLD!

TeleNext Media, Inc. today announced that its two long-running soap operas Guiding Light and As The World Turns, plus the classic soap opera Another World, will be the first of the genre to make full episodes available for viewing on Hulu.com.

Initially, viewers will be able to enjoy 18 full episodes of each show, with an additional three episodes going up on the site per week.
Guiding Light will debut on July 25, 2008, As The World Turns on July 28, and Another World on July 29.

“Our shows have always been media pioneers,” said Brian T. Cahill, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of TeleNext Media Inc., “We were the first to transition from radio to television and the first to podcast. We are proud to be first here as well, and happy to do it with such a great strategic partner as Hulu.”

Both Guiding Light and As The World Turns will debut on Hulu with episodes that originally aired on television on June 1, 2007.

Since Another World's removal from the SoapNet schedule, fans have been clamoring to see the remainder of the show's run. As per their wishes, Another World will debut on Hulu with the episode that originally aired on NBC on May 10, 1991 -- the last episode broadcast by SoapNet -- and continue from there!

Older episodes of Another World, as well as classics Search for Tomorrow, The Edge of Night and Texas are currently available on the AOL/PGP Classic Soaps Channel.
EUREKA!

This week on As The World Turns, Emily and Casey have a spontaneous --

-- romantic idea.

Those aren't, however, the same adjectives that Margo and Tom will use to describe the situation. Once they learn about it.

What's got everyone experiencing such conflicting emotions?

Tune into ATWT this week and find out!
FAMILY MATTERS

As promised last week, a photo of Guiding Light's entire Boudreau family, reunited in the face of Remy's greatest crisis.

Fasten your seat-belts for some intense father/son scenes, as Clayton helps Remy come to terms with the Max situation.

Not to mention the situation with Remy and Max's other dad.

In related news, actress Michelle Ray Smith, who plays Ava, gave birth to her own son, Jake, on July 8 (a fun fact: Michelle's on-screen mom, Crystal Chappell, also has a son named Jake, as does co-star Kim Zimmer). Below are some photos of Michelle's last day on the GL set before going on maternity leave.

SOAP REFERENCES IN STRANGE PLACES

When I was in elementary school, I would get off the bus in the afternoon and I would usually find my mother taking her daily break from being mom and relaxing for a bit by catching an episode of Another World. For those who don’t recall or were never exposed to it, it was a soap opera on NBC. I would see a bit of it here and there when I’d get home, usually the last half of the show.

Find out why this story is on InsideRacingNews.com, here.
YOUNGER THAN SPRINGTIME

Starting with their very first supercouple in the late 1950s, when seventeen year old Penny Hughes eloped with Jeff Baker only to have her parents annul the union because Penny was underage, As The World Turns has been a staunch supporter of young, slightly shocking love stories.

Penny's best friend, Ellen Lowell, was also still in her teens when she had an affair with a married man, gave birth to his son and surrendered the baby for adoption. That baby grew up (rather quickly; he was born on-screen in 1958 but turned 26 fourteen years later) to be Dan Stewart, father of Betsy and Emily Stewart, each of whom knows a little something about non-traditional young love affairs. Betsy traded in college for a sizzling love triangle with conniving husband Craig and smoldering step-uncle Steve (Betsy's dad, Dan, married Kim, who, after Dan's death, married Steve's brother, Nick, and raised Betsy with her new husband, thus making Steve a pseudo-relative). Emily did her half-sister one better and blew off high-school to become the much older, much more conniving James Stenbeck's mistress, then dallied with his teen-age son, Paul, on the side.

Also kind-of-related/kind-of-not, were Lily Walsh and Holden Snyder. Lily's biological mother was Holden's adopted sister. For a while, the incestuous overtones managed to keep our star-crossed couple apart. But they eventually got over it. And found other obstacles to keep them apart.

Frannie and Jay (or did you prefer Frannie and Kirk? Marcy and Kirk?), Andy and Courtney (or were you rooting for Andy and Julie?), Chris and Abigail (Adam and Abigail?), Aaron and Lucy (Aaron and Alison? Lucy and Dusty?), Gwen and Will (Gwen and Casey?), the list of ATWT's young couples can go on and on. Which one was your favorite?

And will Parker and Liberty join that list?

Let us know in the Comments section below!

P.S. Am I the only one who sees a resemblance between Teen Paul and Teen Parker?

Both Paul and Parker have some pretty intense relationships with their fashion designing mothers. And both their mothers were married to Hal Munson. And John Dixon. Parker's adoptive dad, Jack, came back from the dead. I don't think I need to draw the parallel to Paul's dad, there. Paul went on trial for shooting dad James, who was attacking Emily. Parker went on trial for shooting Sam, who was attacking Carly. They've both had psychic episodes.

Just something to think about....

And be afraid of.

ACTOR APPEARANCE: ROBERT NEWMAN (JOSH; GUIDING LIGHT)

Robert Newman will star as Charlie Anderson in the anti-war musical Shenandoah at The Barn Theatre in Augusta, Michigan from August 5th through 17.

RIP: LARRY HAINES (STU; SEARCH FOR TOMORROW)

Larry Haines, a stage and television actor who gave a Tony Award-nominated performance as the humane Dr. Dreyfuss in Promises, Promises, a 1968 musical version of the Billy Wilder film "The Apartment," died July 17 in Delray Beach, FL. He was 89.... He brought in a steady income for 35 years playing the part of Stu Bergman on the soap opera "Search for Tomorrow." The actor joined the show two months after it premiered in 1951. He won two Emmys as Best Actor on a Daytime Series, and had a dedicated fan in First Lady Pat Nixon, who called him her favorite soap actor.

Entire Playbill obit, here.

Larry also appeared on Another World and Loving, and originated the role of Joe Roberts in 1950 on Guiding Light's radio broadcast. In 1997, he was personally invited by the producers of the Daytime Emmys to introduce and voice a tribute package honoring the show's 60th anniversary.

The self-deprecating actor joked at the time, "I played handsome, dashing reporter Joe Roberts. Remember, it was on radio."

Larry was also known to primetime audiences for several appearances on the sitcom, Maude. (Details, here)

To see him in his signature role as Stu, check out the current episodes of Search for Tomorrow on the AOL/PGP Classic Soaps Channel.

All of us at P&G Productions send our heartfelt condolences to Larry Haines' family and his many fans.
