LARRY HAINES (STU): SEARCH FOR TOMORROW
Larry Haines spent the largest chunk of his acting career on daytime soaps. He played Joe Roberts on the radio version of Guiding Light in 1950 and 1951. Then, later in 1951, Haines took on his defining role, Stu Bergman on Search for Tomorrow, and played it until the show went off the air in 1986. He also played Neil on Loving from 1994-1995.
Haines made sporadic primetime appearances on such shows as Kojak and Hawk, as well as two memorable guest-shots (as different characters in different years) on Maude (photos above).
The first season of Normal Lear's series about Edith Bunker's outspoken cousin is currently on DVD, though you'll have to wait for Seasons #2 and #3 to come out, in order to check out Haines.
In the meantime, view a vintage episode of Search for Tomorrow on the AOL/PGP Classic Soap Channel any time you like, by clicking here!

I have to say that Larry Haines will always be one of my favorite actors.
I always liked the storylines with Stu and Jo (Mary Stuart) in them. When they were on the screen you knew you were going to have a great time.
