FRANKIE GOES TO (HOLLYWOOD) HEAVEN

On the September 25, 1991 episode of Another World, Frankie (Alice Barrett) dies. But Cass (Stephen Schnetzer) won't let her go. He insists that Frankie believed you could will anything that you wanted -- and that he, along with her cousin Dean (Ricky Paull Goldin) and Aunt Sharlene (Anna Holbrook), were going to will Frankie back to life, medical science be damned.

Frankie heard Cass calling for her to come back, but she was too busy up in Heaven, watching her life flash before her eyes, and meeting the baby she miscarried a few months earlier. As often happens on soaps, said baby was already of school age, and full of advice for his mom.

The episode ends with a Frankie/Cass montage set to (Everything I Do) I Do For You. The Bryan Adams ballad was featured in the 1991 version of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, starring Kevin Costner. It won a Grammy and was nominated for an Academy Award. In the U.S. the song topped the charts for seven weeks, selling three million singles and becoming the best-selling single in America for 17 weeks.

Killing Frankie was one of the most violent event on soaps. It was also the stupidest thing to do. It destroyed AW IMO.
