DADDY OF THE DAMNED
We talked about Electra complexes yesterday (other candidates for the condition: Lucy on ATWT, Sami on DOOL, Colby on AMC, Tracy on GH), so it's only fair today to discuss possibly daytime's sickest father/son duo, Alfred and Jonathan of Guiding Light.
Ritchie Coster returns as the ghost of Alfred to once again get inside Jonathan's head on Wednesday, October 18th.
It's always fun to see how even the spectere of his twisted, dead daddy turns Jonathan from snotty to sniveling. And Coster always does such a good job of showing that, in his own perverse way, Alfred really does care about this boy.
With Lizzie due to give birth at any minute, Jonathan is living in terror of turning into dear old dad. But would that really be so bad? After all, Alfred may be a lot of things, but he's never dull...
(Disclaimer: For the record, I am not saying that child abuse in real life is entertaining. I am saying that Alfred, as played by Ritchie Coster, on the pretend television show known as Guiding Light, is entertaining).
In addition to his one day-stint as Alfred, Coster is currently appearing on the New York stage in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie with Cynthia Nixon.
