While ATWT's Kim is known for being a pretty sympathetic, empathetic person (though if she "kiddo's" you, it's all over), actress Kathryn Hays is revered internationally by an entirely different audience for her role in a quintessential, 1968 episode of Classic Star Trek (she would arrive in Oakdale in 1972).

As Gem (above), Hays played a literal empath, who could take other people's pain and suffering onto herself.
