ACTOR APPEARANCE: RON RAINES (ALAN; GUIDING LIGHT)

Ron Raines, best known to daytime audiences as "Guiding Light's" Alan Spaulding, will regale Maine State Music Theatre audiences Monday, Aug. 11, with his repertoire of Broadway favorites.

The one-night only show, "Ron Raines and Friends," will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Pickard Theater on the Bowdoin College campus.

Daytime audiences will recognize Raines as Alan Spaulding from the CBS daytime drama "Guiding Light" since 1994, a role that has earned him three Emmy Award and three Soap Opera Digest Award nominations.

Besides his television work, Raines is one of America's most prominent musical theater performers. He starred on Broadway as lawyer Billy Flynn in "Chicago," as Gaylord Ravenal in the 1983 revival of "Showboat" and as Teddy Roosevelt's son-in-law, Nick Longworth, in "Teddy and Alice."
