Such a shame. I hope that some day we can see our stories continue online.
I've been very pleased with the Mindy Lewis tweets and Another World Today. I think the creative success of abbreviated online soaps Venice, Gotham, and so many others demonstrate the dedication of writers, producers, actors and FANS!! to this genre and the internet as a medium.
I hope that if Prospect Park was unable to make it work for an hour-long episode 5 days per week, that someone will consider shorter contributions with fewer characters.
I would LOVE to see 10 minutes episodes centered on Bo and Nora (with potential guest stars) a couple of times a week. Or Todd and Blair, etc.
Just because a full hour with a large cast isn't feasible doesn't mean condensed versions (of high quality) shouldn't be considered.
Very sorry to learn this. As a small consolation, a fan has posted one of the first 90 minute episodes of Another World from 1979. It is the one where Michael Ryan's character of John Randolph is killed in a fire marking the end of his 15 year run on the show.
One particular treat is an extended scene of the late Beverlee McKinsey's Iris with then maid Vivien and then husband Brian Bancroft. Iris lets her guard down and confides in Vivien about her loneliness when in boarding school. It's one of the small details that made us forgive her many nasty deeds. The connection between McKinsey and the late Gretchen Oehler makes me long for a day when we cared about such daytime TV characters.
