Grean climbed the career ladder to the top rung when she became director of the daytime drama "All My Children." "A very big deal," said Gurnee.
Using her maiden name professionally, Sherrell Hoffman, Grean was nominated eight times between 1980 and 1987 for "outstanding direction for a drama series," for "All My Children," and in 1991 for "The Guiding Light."
